From cakes to doughnuts, brownies and scones the BA staff were on a ‘roll’ when it came to showcasing their baking skills for The Great BAke Off 2018. Of course, you could feel the anticipation build in the Cookstown office as the morning drew on.
Let it be said that many a ‘kneady’ stomach was filled with delicious delights when The Great BAke Off began. When the tasting was done, it was time to announce our winners.
Spoiling the team with an amazing Ferrero Roche Cheesecake, Gareth Boyle from the Marketing department was crowned as our Showstopper Winner. He was followed very closely by Caroline Kelly with some amazing Toffee Squares.
As for our ‘Friends and Family Award’, the delicious Carrot Cake made by Amelia McCracken was deemed the winner. We also awarded the cute Sheep and Hedgehog Cupcakes with the ‘Most Creative Award’ which went to Aimee Kirkland. Congratulations to all.
Of course, even after the baking was complete, more ‘dough’ was being raised for charity. As September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month, the money raised for our Bake-Off competition was donated in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI. This is a charity that is also close to our hearts for some at BA. We thought there was no better cause than one that helps fund research in Northern Ireland to improve the outcome for all patients diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related conditions.
And what a successful afternoon we had. All the BA staff raised an amazing £375.84 for the charity and we hope to increase that total with an even bigger fundraiser very soon. So, make sure you keep an eye out for that!
