Why the KBB Industry needs to open up to the world of Social Media

Having worked in the B2C sector before joining BA Components, it came as quite a shock to move into B2B digital marketing. A shock in the sense that I can’t believe how little those in the KBB industry utilise digital marketing. I want to tell you why the KBB Industry needs to open up to the world of Social Media.

I have lost count of the magazines that have a great print presence and virtually nothing online. Businesses pump all their money into traditional methods and fail to embrace the realm of digital marketing; mainly social media alongside a web presence.

In the world of digital marketing, social media plays a big role. It helps to build awareness and create new leads. But if I had a penny for every time I heard ‘I don’t do Facebook’ I wouldn’t need to work!

Yet at BA Components, I can directly attribute social media to our leads and in turn our conversions. So there is no denying the power of social media and how it can connect you with new customers and build brand awareness.

When used, social media can help you engage directly with your target audience but the important thing to remember is not to be too ‘salesy’. I see businesses making this mistake time and time again and it makes their posts invisible to me. (Partly to do with the fact that Facebook won’t show pages that have posts with little or no engagement). People are not interested in all your sales talk; they want to see behind the brand. Posting relevant content related to your business, talking about who is behind the screen creating the content and posting images of your customer installations is what everyone wants to see.

Below are the social media channels we currently use:

Facebook
Twitter
LinkedIn
YouTube
Google Plus
Vine
Pinterest
