The Hunger Games – Waging War with your Kitchen
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 is an upcoming American science fiction war film. It’s the second of two films based on the novel Mockingjay, the final book in the Hunger Games trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins, and the final instalment in The Hunger Games film series. Whilst not being directly related to food, we thought we’d compile a list of fillings recipes that would be sufficient even for starving Katniss Everdeen and the other inhabitants of District 12. Perfect for colder nights when you want to fill up. Put on your armour (apron) of choice, grab your weapons (cooking utensils), enter the arena (kitchen) and let the Hunger Games begin!
This is as simple as it gets – 5 ingredients, quickly prepared (just chuck everything into the pot), and zero cooking skills required. If you can’t handle the spice of the salsa, opt for a milder one. You can always add a dash of Tobasco at the end if you want a kick of heat.
This chowder is especially tasty in the early fall – when garden produce is really good. This is great cold weather soup, filling and will definitely take the chill off your cheeks.
Every word in the title of this recipe conveys that it’s uber-delicious and sure to fill you with yummy goodness from top to toe. The baked potatoes are so soft when they come out of the oven you won’t need a masher; your weapon of choice here is definitely a fork.
Ramen is possibly my favourite meal. Words can’t express how brilliant it is. Super fast, super tasty and super easy to make. On cold nights it’s perfect, slurping down a cosy big bowl of noodles, veggies and meat. This ramen recipe is made with rice noodles, roasted sweet potatoes and sesame broccoli. Absolutely delish; but feel free to throw in some chicken, beef or pork if you want a bit of extra protein. Oh and of course the perfect weapon for such a meal is nothing other than chopsticks.
Jamie has definitely hit the ground running with this shepherd’s pie. It has potato all the way round and when served with heavenly gravy, your mouth hunger may overpower your stomach hunger. This is ultimate comfort food for colder days.
